In three days, we step into a new year. A transition—from shedding what no longer serves us to standing more fully in our own power. However you mark this moment, it feels like a turning. A chance to move forward with more awareness than before.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find myself ready for that shift. Ready to step into a new year—and a new version of myself.
This past year has been one of deep growth. I’ve spent time reflecting on what I’ve learned, what has changed, what still needs to change, and where I want to go from here. The question that keeps returning to me is a simple one:
What am I not carrying into the new year?
One of my long-standing tendencies has been to nurture and care for the people around me- even when it comes at the expense of my own wellbeing. I’ve carried the emotional weight of many of my connections, often to the point of burnout. I found myself depleted, exhausted, and disconnected from myself.
I wasn’t very good at setting- or holding- emotional and energetic boundaries. This has been one of my clearest lessons.
As I move into 2026, I’m choosing to stand by the boundaries I’ve set to protect myself. I will continue to love and care for the people in my life, but with intention and limits. I am no longer willing to put myself on the back burner in order to make others feel better, only to lose myself in the process.
In the year ahead, my love and support will be rooted in reciprocity and mutual effort. I know this may mean losing some connections- but I also trust that it will make room for the right ones.
So I leave you with the same question I’m asking myself:
What are you not carrying into 2026?
