Unfolding
Under the night sky
the moon hidden by trees,
surrounded by shadows
of lessons unlearned.
What lies within them,
secrets I hold,
truths unspoken,
tears that have been spilled?
I cannot see the moon,
I trust it will guide me
when I am ready.
In the dark night
is where I grow.
Unfolding
as their eyes remain closed.
They rest
as I battle.
They stay still
as the moon moves me
like the tides.
It is in the quiet dark
that my lessons unravel.
I don’t fear it.
I walk into the unknown
as a girl,
trusting the moon will meet me
when I return.
I emerge from the shadows
a woman—
ready for the moon-light
to guide me home.
This is where Unfolding began.
Unfolding was written near the end of 2025 after a tumultuous year of heartbreak, healing, and growth. During this time, I was also moving through a spiritual awakening— unlearning what no longer served me and finding my footing again. There was deep reflection, coming to terms with past decisions and recurring patterns, and acknowledging hard truths about myself.
Spiritually, I had lost my way at some point. I worked hard to find my voice again and to reconnect with my inner power—my intuition. I leaned on a few close friends during the hardest moments, letting myself ramble as I talked through what I was feeling and experiencing. But much of this work was done alone, often at night, while most of the world slept.
I often felt like the moon was my companion through this journey— a trusted presence I could always count on. She has heard every thought, witnessed every tear, and offered light in my darkest moments.
I navigated the beginning of 2025 as a girl and closed out the year as the woman I knew I was.
